The MOVE-ONKO app is part of the MOVE-ONKO project funded by the German Cancer Aid as part of the funding priority program “Model implementation of structures for sports and exercise therapy for cancer patients”.The app can be used by patients, exercise guides and exercise experts who are receiving oncological treatment or working at one of the participating project locations and who take part in the new care structure within MOVE-ONKO. Further information about the project and the project locations can be found at www.move-onko.de.An oncological disease as well as therapy and the associated side effects place a high burden on those affected and significantly reduce the quality of life. More than 700 studies demonstrate the potential of sports and exercise therapy as a supportive measure during and after cancer disease/therapy. Regular and individually tailored exercise reduces side effects, increases physical resilience and quality of life and supports therapy tolerance. However, nationwide the supply of specific offers has so far been inadequate. As part of their oncological care, those affected often do not receive enough information about the benefits and possibilities of exercise, are often heavily stressed and unsettled due to the variety of therapy- and disease-related side effects, and are generally not very physically active. Medical professionals describe a variety of barriers that make patient-oriented exercise promotion in everyday clinical practice almost impossible. There is a lack of resources and needs-oriented approaches to provide early, treatment-accompanying information and advice to those affected about exercise and to support them in finding suitable and quality-assured exercise therapy offers. The aim of MOVE-ONKO is to get people moving against cancer and to find an individually tailored range of sports and exercise therapy. The MOVE-ONKO app is central to the entire process - a digital communication platform for patients, exercise guides and exercise experts. It facilitates the exchange between specialists and those affected and bundles all information on diagnosis, therapy and accompanying symptoms digitally in one place.Supervising specialist staff at the participating clinic use MOVE-ONKO for initial screening and brief consultation. Patients who take part in MOVE-ONKO use the app to fill out all the necessary questionnaires directly from the comfort of their own home. The following advice and the search for a suitable exercise offer also take place with the help of the MOVE-ONKO app. And if no suitable exercise program is available, you can train at home using the MOVE-ONKO app with an individual therapy plan.Patients can find all relevant information about their accompanying exercise therapy, their treating doctors can view documents and information and can get in touch with the exercise experts at the clinic - all within the MOVE-ONKO app.The telemedicine platform Curafida, on which the MOVE-ONKO app is based, is certified as a CE-certified Class I medical device according to the Medical Device Directive (MDD).
